Who Are We and What Are We About?

Christians for Cannabis is an idea that my husband and I came up with one day while walking to the grocery store. We had just moved to Denver, CO, where medical marijuana is legal with a license. I was able to obtain an MJ license easily because I am a Fibromyalsia sufferer.(Fibromyalgia is a common condition characterized by long-term,
body-wide pain and tender points in joints, muscles, tendons, and
other soft tissues. Fibromyalgia has also been linked to fatigue ...

Obtaining a medical marijuana license(from now on referred to as MJ license), was a quick, very normal visit to the doc process. I called and made an appointment, went in to the doctor's office, filled out the forms, met with the doctor (yes a real MD), and paid about $80.00. Then, they sent me on my way with the proper paperwork to pick up my prescription. Now, I am a licensed medical MJ patient.

Being new to the area, I was looking for community. I wanted to find other people like me, who would not be judgmental about medical marijuana, but also people with whom I have things in common. This brought about a new dilemma for me. I believe that the best way to meet people and build community is to find a good church where you are comfortable and feel at home; A place where you can be part of a family. Most importantly a place to gather with like minded Christians and worship the Lord! There are lots of places like that in my area, hundreds in fact, but would the church crowd accept an MJ patient without judgment, or would I have to hide my MJ status?

The problem that I face is that I am a normal person, who uses a medication that is still taboo. It doesn't seem to matter to some people that the old myths and wives tales about pot have been totally disproven. I challenge you to start a conversation about marijuana with the folks at your church. What kind of reaction will you get?

This brings me to my mission: I want to bring together Christians who believe in the many benefits of medical marijuana. I want to bring together patients who feel alienated because of their illnesses, and then experience further alienation because of their medication. I think it's time that we Christians, parents, PEOPLE, come together to stop the still widespread ignorance surrounding the use of Marijuana!

I just want to end this with "something to think about". If you are anything like the average American, man or woman, you probable take pills. Almost everyone takes some kind of pill for some kind of ailment. No one judges you for that. It's normal, right? Perhaps it's time that we started to really questions this "normal" practice? Do you know what is in your medicine? I know exactly what is in mine. I know where it was grown. I know it hasn't been chemically processed, and I know that buying it supports my local farmers, NOT THE BIG DRUG COMPANIES! Don't even get me started on them! That is another post entirely. All I am saying is, think about it.
